"Sleep" - Azure Ray
I was in a foul mood this afternoon. Damn, the old me is wearing me out and she's only been back for about a day. I want to go back to Europe to drop her a$$ off. She needs to drench in sweat under Italy's treacherous summer sun. She needs to feel cramped inside a cold metal, 6-passenger train car. She needs to climb up several stairs to escape from the scary subways of Paris. She needs to turn crazy corners to avoid the havoc of the London riots... one that destroyed a 3-story warehouse filled with irreplaceable art by Indie singers, songwriters, and record labels that now have to rummage through charred rubble to start from scratch.
But most of all, she needs to quit her b*tching as she slowly crawls around the curves of the deadly 110 freeway...especially as she passes a twisted black car with a heavy white sheet over the backseat... or what's left of it. Then maybe she would once again wake up and appreciate this little thing called life.
I'm sorry sweet, precious, little one. I'm sorry they were all in a hurry and forgot to drive with care with you sitting quietly back there. I'm sorry you spun out of control in this mad rush down the devil's road. I'm sorry you got stuck and that the water coming out of a garden hose and a few short buckets couldn't fight the fire fast enough from reaching you. I'm sorry for your unanswered cries. I'm sorry for no last goodbyes. I'm sorry they just couldn't get to you in time. So, please sleep. Sweet, precious little one...Sleep.
Lyrics:
Fill these spaces up with days
In my room
You can go, you can stay
But I can't sleep
I can't speak to you
I can't sleep
Now these years locked in my drawer
I'll open to see
just to be sure
But I can't sleep
I can't speak to you
I can't sleep
And so I'm reaching out for the one
And so I've learned the meaning of the sun
And all this like a message comes
to shift my point of view
I'm watching through my own light
as it tints the shade of you
Hold my wine, hold it in
Nobody's lost
but nobody wins
And I can't sleep
I can't speak to you
I can't sleep
And so I'm reaching out for the one
And so I've learned the meaning of the sun
And all this like a message comes
to shift my point of view
I'm watching through my own light
as it tints the shade of you
I can't sleep
I can't speak to you...
