I know I've been shortcutting my way through this and by the look of my blog count within the last 6 months, I'm obviously not getting any better. I tried to blame Playlist (though they play a crucial role) and I even tried blaming the fact that I'm too "happy" to blog. Truth is, I'm blowing it off because I'm actually sleeping at night.
Sometimes I find myself falling asleep in front of this computer or thinking about blogging and then falling asleep before I turn it on. So, to keep my promise I would put something up so that I could simply keep this thing going. I checked in at least once every other day, grabbed onto a song, video or both and made sure to date it within 7-days so that I don't let too much time pass from each entry. But I don't want to post just to post and lately reading back, there's more of that than I care to see.
Yes, I did put up quite a few good stories (at least I hope so)... "Someone'll" and "Vintage Red Bicycle" are just a few proud pieces I like to go back to, but with all this rest I've been getting it seems harder for me to commit to writing even more actual stories. I almost put this idea to rest too, but I haven't gotten that delirious yet. I knew I needed another boost. Some kinda kick to get me on my feet and ignore the tired for a bit to blog stronger and more meaningful blogs...at least to finish the stories I was too lazy to tell. Then a week ago (I'm smiling as I write this), without even asking for this inspiration, a "love remix" brought me back. There's just too much music out there to give up now. So, I won't.
Without trying to avoid cliches, this is dedicated to the man behind the music who has surprised me in countless ways. He not only gave me a reason to love again, but he is making me believe that marriage and kids isn't so far from what I truly want. This is HUGE. A solid stance I took a while ago is suddenly changing right before my eyes because I see a man who embraces being ridiculously in love just as much as I do. A man who showed no shame in browsing the aisles at the local Target to pick up feminine things he's never seen before for me. A man that observes me, watches what I like and don't like in order to remember them for later so that he can cater to me. A man that isn't afraid to speak his mind even if it means arguing with me (even though he knows I'm always right), but he won't degrade me. He won't call me names, put me down, and disregard me. He will take the time to hold me, console me, and mold me back into the woman who doesn't hate all men. A man who is patient, considerate and kind and that I know deep down in my bones is the right man for me because he IS a MAN. I'm feeling my guard fall down hard and although I'm still cautiously moving ahead, I know that it's not because I'm afraid of what he'll do to me; to us...but it's to make sure I don't fuck it up.
