Mine for the Taking

"Let's Go" - Calvin Harris feat. NeYo

The moment is mine for the taking. I could sit here on my hands or get up and reach for what I want even if it means jumping higher than I thought I could ever jump. I fought my way up for others, it's about time for me to fight for me. So what if I expected a cheerleading squad and no one showed up? So what if this opportunity is not yet set in stone? So what if a battle exists in my head with what could be vs. what has always been? The could is what makes it good.

I feel it in my bones that I'm making the right decision and I've waited too long to let it slip through my fingers because things aren't moving at a pace I can easily follow and because it's not the path I'm supposed to take. How do I know for sure if I keep playing it safe? I can't let my emotions scare me into thinking I'm taking a giant leap of faith only to end up flat on my ass. I've fallen before. Many times. It hurts for a while, but nothing a good ice pack and time won't fix. I don't want to stop because I might fall down again. I know that no matter how hard I try, there's no real net to catch all of life's mistakes before they happen. I could spend my time worrying about living or just allow myself to live regardless of the worry.

But know this: I change my mind a lot. Make a big deal out of nothing a lot. Speak the truth a lot. Trust my instinct a lot. Lead with my heart a lot. Over analyze a lot. Cry a lot. Laugh a lot. See the "what ifs" a lot. Complain to complain a lot. Throw a tantrum a lot. Argue my way a lot. Work pretty damn hard a lot. Because it's all or nothing or nothing at all. So I'm jumping and when I land flat on my feet I'm going to take off running.

Lyrics:

Let’s go!
Make no excuses now
I’m talking here and now
I’m talking here and now

Let’s go!
Your time is running out
I’m talking here and now
I’m talking here and now

It’s not about what you’ve done
It’s about what you doing
It’s all about where you going
No matter where you’ve been
Let’s go!

Let’s go!
Let’s go!
Let’s go!
Let’s go!
(It's now or never oooh oooh)
(Tomorrow's good, tonight is better oooh oooh)

There is no better time
I’m talking here and now
I’m talking here and now
Let’s go!
Right now is where you shine
I’m talking here and now
I’m talking here and now

It’s not about what you’ve done
It’s about what you doing
It’s all about where you going
No matter where you’ve been
Let’s go!

Let’s go!
Let’s go!
Let’s go!
Let’s go!

Let’s make it happen
Ooh, let’s make it happen tonight
Let’s make it happen
Ooh, let’s make it happen tonight
Let’s make it happen
Ooh, let’s make it happen tonight
Let’s make it happen
Ooh, let’s make it happen tonight
Let’s go!

Let’s go!
Let’s go!
(It's now or never oooh oooh)
(Tomorrow's good, tonight is better oooh oooh)
Let’s go!
Let’s go!

Welcome to People

Songs TBA Last night, I saw a special, private screening courtesy of the Screening Exchange called, "Welcome to People" directed by Alex Kurtzman. I loved it and it wasn't something that I thought I'd love. In fact, I almost changed my mind at the last minute when I saw that familiar long line down the steps at Arclight Paseo. I figured, "Hell it's just another movie." But I'm so glad I didn't turn around. I'm glad I stood in the back of the line, got my hand stamped and cell phone taken away for nearly 3-hours in order to be in a room filled with strangers. I just wish I had something with me to write down the great songs I heard that disappeared by the time I logged onto this blog. It makes me appreciate technology...so check it out when it comes out. I'll make sure I have my cell phone handy the next time I see it so I can grab some songs along the way. Oh, I'm Hannah, not Frankie and let me know what you think.

Love Is Not Blind

"Colorblind" - Counting Crows I originally had a Dave Matthews Band song in my head, but like always I'm bending the rules a little bit and going with what's in my heart. After all, I couldn't follow my last blog with something you didn't like, could I? That just wouldn't fit and this seems to do just that. This song reminds me of the movie Cruel Intentions . It's hard not to think of it. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's chemistry was so strong, especially in their steamy love scene with this song playing in the background, that any other memory pales in comparison. I always thought the lyrics were so simple and romantic, but it became even clearer here. There was no doubt about it. I knew instantly that they were a real life couple even before they announced it. Love is obvious. Acting can never really be this good unless two people have genuine feelings for each. Look at Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in The Notebook and Angelina Jolie ...

If You're A Nerd, I'm A Nerd.

"Revenge of the Nerds" Theme Music Some things will never grow old with me. This classic 80's film is one of them. It always makes me want to root for the underdog! It's a bit raunchy and definitely dated, but I love it. I love how they find a runned down ol' house and fix it up to look as good as new. I love how they pour liquid heat over the "jockstrap salad" and invade the Pies. I love how Gilbert makes a move on Judy through computer animation and cheers her on no matter how terrible she sounds playing the accordion. "So I say I gotta be free. So I say I gotta be me." - Judy (Michelle Meyrink) I love the yellow tricycle. Takashi you're my hero! I love how the Lambdas barricade the stage in the end to give Gilbert a chance to speak up. But most of all, I love the talent show! It doesn't matter that I own this movie on DVD, I still watch it whenever it pops up on TV. It's just one of those things you can't bring yourself to ch...
